Take up a new addiction.
Drink in moderation. Don't do it so much that it hurts you. Learn to find ways to limit yourself. But, it is very hard. That's why they have AA programs.
Last year I was drinking from 2 to 3 liters of beer a day, if by any chance I had wine I'd chug the whole bottle within an hour or so, and then I'd go for more. One time I decided to move to whisky (about half a bottle of irish whisky a day) because I was fed up with all the glass laying around!
I casually stumbled on this guy's videos and that was the first time I thought that might not be normal nor healty. It took more months to decide to quit. It took then a couple months dry to be able to get back to enjoy a shot here and there. Now it's under control.
The guy is a former alcoholic and had his life completely fucked up, his stories are quite awful. Somehow he resonated with me.
EDIT: I didn't even follow his "system", but his stuff helped me getting started with reduction and then quitting
