Germany was based AF. Lost less than half the men and tonnage that the Brits did. Not that it changed the outcome of the war. Germany just picked fights with way too many countries

In the battle? It was less to the germans and more to the brits having terrible gunpowder safety procedures in place and their shell detonators being horribly unreliable.

The foremost would save three battlecruisers and the latter would absolutely shred the scouting group. The high seas fleet also recieved hits that with proper detonators would have sent a couple dreadnoughts to the bottom.

Even with all those technicalities actively working in their favor, the gambit of openly challenging the british fleet was too based on the premise of managing to to create a situation where they could take on them piece meal. This was doomed from the start since the brits were reading german communications.


Anyways this battle is fascinating. I can only imagine how tremendous and terifying it felt to participate in it.
