computing II OOP

my dad just called asking how i am doing this semester and i told him good, in reality i haven't went to 1 class in 2 months and have been ldaring 24/7 now got to bust my ass in the summer. adding a shit to to student loans as well.

having 0 motivation sucks can't even discipline myself :(

You will survive it and I hope you will pass your courses.

my moms forcing me to go back to school so I might have to do some classes aswell

You can do this, Jack!

What the fuck is the point of this? The only reason to get a job is to support your wife/gf/family.

every single relative is a doctor/lawyer/engineer. sisters are investment banker and doctor and parents will probably hire a hitman or kick me out if i tell them i want to neet or work a wage job and stay at home.

What will you study?
Computer information system, I only have a year left to finish bachelors. I just want to wageslave till I die but my mom is one of those so yea.

you are the "exiled" kid in your high legacy dynasty, its over boyo

good luck bro. Summer school has less suicide fuel IME

I might have to do the same

Yeah what else sucks is I get bullied by my own fucking relatives at family gatherings it’s why I never go to them and my parents give me shit about it. They also like to make fun of my fucking height which is stupid.

Dam, incel life sucks. We are so scared of roping that we put up with this shit

Damn that seems intense. How early do you want to graduate?

I'm just doing the bare minimum now. I don't study. I just hand in the assignments and look over my notes for a few mins before taking a test or quiz in class.

I'm contemplating if I should go to grad school or not, but I just want to finish uni and work as soon as possible.

That's easy to say, but not everyone lives in some luxury socialist like country that would fund their neetceldom. People still have to work to survive, not only to look after their families, but to look after themselves too. Also everyone's parents won't live forever too, their support for you is only temporary.

And what will you do when their gone? And what will you do if you have inherit little to no money from them?

When I first started I was really into my degree wanted to do a possible masters and research AI and machine learning. I was really into math physics and coding. Would always read the source material before lectures and so every question possible.

It died about 2 years later after the recent winter break I lost all motivation because I thought what was the point if I’m just going to end up alone in the end, putting all this extra work when I look like a complete joke, an ethnic Manlet with a micro penis. I was jus coping by having good grades. This year was the worst because I just stopped going to class and had to drop a bunch.

End goal is to just finish my degreee and work a shitty coding job. GPA is around 3.3 since I dropped all courses I’m failing before dead line, was a 3.8 before lol. Hopefully in 3 years with a internship in that time.

Also you are doing a math major correct? I’d suggest minoring in stats/comp sci and you can get a data analyst job easily. Doing a masters is up to you but is hefty. Some of the courses are crazy hard like advanced combinatorics and differential topology (they have a 35% pass rate at my uni) and you are going to have to dedicate half your day to studying.

that would make me rope

too much in a semester
i'm fine with everything else but I hate OOP
I can't design for shit
the more math for me the better

@idkwattodowithlife
yeah go Stats, that's easiest and in more demand, be an actuary, analyst etc
...or applied math
in Ph.D. track applied math I may not have to screw with differential topology (I HATE topology)
but you will definitely be doing
... numerical analysis (obviously)
... PDEs (obviously)
... complex analysis
... stochastic shit (applied prob and shit)
anything you know in CS is a tremendous help
chances are you'd be modeling blood flow (Navier-Stokes stuff, this is for medical applications), combinatorial optimization (if that's your thing, I hate that too)
But learn real analysis and lebesgue integration like the back of your hand, bang your head against the wall/desk/chair doing an applied math project and godspeed!

If you can complete the prerequisites for those classes you're 5x smarter than me. I barely passed geometry in high school. Good luck, OP.

@Raiden
Also that's WAY too much for a summer
... in fact that's too much for me during a long semester
how are you allowed to register for that much in the summer?
Also good luck and blessings, brother!

That's a lot for the summer. Good luck. You're gonna need it.

well i'm forced to take it if i want my co-op internship in summer 2019, so i think i will just end up dropping the hardest two because no way i can actually progress in architecture and data structures i haven't coded in c in 2 years and have only small recollection of java for oop.

i'm okay with math and physics but that's only if i put in a lot of work i still end up turning mediocre results

at my uni you are only allowed to take at most 8 credit hours per summer (practically 2 lab classes)
summer classes suck and make you go to class everyday
also c is torture, segmentation fault, segmentation fault, segmentation fault, segmentation fault, segmentation fault, abort trap: 6
my shitty CS program makes me use C in Operating Systems and Networks without teaching us C

Summer classes suck ass. They are shorter and they cram tons of work in. I've heard of summer classes being 4 hours a day 5 times a week for 6 weeks. And kids will take more than one. It's fucking brutal that you're doing this, but with STEM.

Yeah, it's crazy how hopeful people would be on their first week of university then they get a reality check later on. University isn't usually for the lazies. Oh yeah, machine learning is becoming more popular in maths courses too, not only CS or CE.

I've started university with wanting to do a double degree in Electrical Engineering Physics (had good grades from school), and then I was like naw in the first semester, failed some of the subjects, and boggled down into doing maths (and realized that it was better for me).

Yeah it's hard find to motivation in uni, especially if you don't have much friends or anything and heck even being in a relationship could probably re-ignite your flames to do shit.

Sounds like it's best to take your time, if you want to finish your degree, and anyways do you have a back-up option or courses you want to do if CE doesn't pan or workout?

My back-up option is Nursing or IT, I could fill in some of them with a maths minor.

Yes, I'm planning to minor in computer science anyways. I'm not sure if I want to do a masters, but I need to maintain 70%+ average this year, and next year. It's getting tiresome, I feel like I just want to work, but at the same time, I enjoy learning new shit because its stimulating to me.

Yeah, I'll be doing topology next year, I've already done the subjects required for that course. I could actually do topology now, If I want.

Yeah stats is a back-up major for me then it's IT and Nursing. I've completed one stats unit.

Are you doing a maths major yourself?

I'm on the pure maths track. My reasoning for not doing applied maths is because I can't be bothered with the whole modelling thing. I prefer abstract maths.

I've attempted real analysis and complex analysis, but failed both of them. Came close to passing complex analysis. I'm re-doing real analysis this semster, if i pass that and since I've already passed linear algebra, then I'd be eligible to do functional analysis.

I should've studied IT or Nursing, but muh 4-inch egotistical wants to do the harder stuff lol.

Anyways what's the weighted exam and assignments/tests like for you guys? All of my courses are worth 80% exam and 20% assignments/tests lol.

HOLY SHIT! That's alot of work man, i wish i was smart enough to do half of it.

@idkwattodowithlife
Yeah I'm math and CS major
I'll be entering an applied math Ph.D. prgm next fall
I choose applied over pure since I find it easier, and honestly, I cannot motivate myself to do math for its own sake. If it's used for physics or CS though I love it!
I cant wait to get away from my university, I go to a regional state school. I guess it's good we even have a master's in math offered. Even so we do not have differential geometry (which would be a requirement at a selective private school), differential topology, nor second semester complex
As for exam weight, the 20/80 thing holds for pretty much all my classes
Our profs here are Moore method teach-your-self-from-our-notes fanatics
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask or PM me!
Good to have fellow mathcels! ;)

I have a lot of courses to look forward to this summer myself.

I hope so. I just don't want to spend years going to school, you're an oldcel and still going to uni. Also,Everyone i know who went to college is still in debt, while part of that is their fault for choosing class's they shouldn't have,it's still alot of money.

Im looking into being a coalminer atm, coal seems to be a safe bet looking ahead. Also looks kinda "fun", getting to fuel american industry.

Lol, I wish i could hit the lottery so i could larp as a successful businessman. That would be fun.

Damn dude that's great. Doing a PhD takes a lot of committment.

Applied maths have some decent DE courses. I like PDE's btw :).

There's masters or the straight honors path, master is a safer bet because generally you just need to pass and you'd still be eligible to do a PhD. But it's good that you're going straight into doing a PhD.

My university offers differential geometry, I've passed Linear Algebra and Calc III (vector calculus) so I could study Diff Geo if I want.

Yeah, I'd probably need some help with real analysis, it's killing me, especially with the whole compact sequence thingy lol. I'm still struggling to prove things like Sup(AB)=Sup(A)Sup(B). It's easy to say that the supremum exists by the axiom of completeness, but then you'd have to play around with inequalities, and say that's not an upper bound (to say that it's the least upper bound) in order to complete the proof. Like fuck me. But thank goodness there's another maths major here >.>

I have a lot of courses to look forward to this summer myself.

You could try online university down the line.

You don't need to be a businessman with a uni degree btw.
