SO, A bit of context:
I'm taking a summer course and it ends in about two and a half weeks. We have to make a huge canvas painting, about a meter in height... think that's about 4ft. The thing is: Since we don't have that much time left, and the painting is big, The Dr. decided that it'd be on the safer side for us to be paired up. I'm studying arts btw.... I think that was obvious but meh. Since he wanted to challenge us he decided he'd pair us with people with opposite styles to put it simply. So i ususally focus on color theory, and so He said he wanted to pair me up with somone who focused more often on black and white art. So the project was as follows, we both have to come up with the concept and then figure out how to paint and what techniques to use. We have to merge into each other's style if I'm making sense. Sorry if i'm being vague
He'd pair them up, say: You both okay with this? and moved on to the next pair. So Then came my turn, and I was paired up with a girl that i've never even noticed tbh, and I'm a little confused. She also uses colors in her painitngs as far as I'm concerned. He turns to her only and says you okay with this? She shrugs and says sure. Why wouln't I be?
after he finishes explaining the project, he gives us the rest of the hour to talk and so she comes over to sit next to me. Her name's pretty weird but whatever. She asks to see my portfolio and starts looking through it. She complimented a lof of my work and I felt pretty weird about that. WHen the Dr. saw her, he smiled and told me: Don't worry, she's flexible in her art and won't have any problem adjusting to yours.
I shrug, she gave me her number, and her instagram so we could contact each other and we left for out next class.
I just don't know how to feel about this... I'm a little annoyed he asked her only, as if I'm a bother but just assumed i was okay with the situation. I did voice this complaint to her and she said that it was because She always paired up with another girl in our class, but I have no way to confirm this.
Idk you guys, what do you think i should Do? I feel very weird and ackward with the whole situation and eventhough she was accepting of my ideas for the project, i'm very nervous about the whole thing. She's not a bad artist, if we're being objective here, but I'm just feeling a abit weird.
