There are several who have come up with the idea of "giants" on earth at one time, and likewise that the notion of gods may have originated in "alien" visits here. So far I have almost rejected it, but a thought struck me - maybe it has a root in reality anyway?
Compare the following:
Folklore: Blankenborg-vetl-gutane and trolls in Heidalsskogen (large figures; three trolls - ONE eye on sharing)
Folklore: Trolls in general (large figures; and including TREE-headed trolls)
The Odyssey: Cyclop (great figure; ONE eye)
Bible: David and Goliath (great figure; struck by a stone in his forehead - close to his eyes)
Norse mythology: Odin ("all-father" and so seen great figure; ONE eye)
Nazca culture: Look at this from Wikipedia (great figure, but with two eyes - if it is NOT an eye and a hole in the head like Goliath)
Mount Rushmore: Presidents (and so seen great figures, but undoubtedly with two eyes each)
The latter is apparently different from the others, but keep in mind that it is relatively new - and the question then is whether the inspiration for this memorial does not originate in some kind of common cultural heritage or shared unconscious memories. As long as no traces of such giants were found (footprints, bones, settlements, implements, etc.), there is also an open question about these truly IS "aliens" visiting, and that they had the opportunity to hide their real traces.
