you can only reach his eyes if your arms are longer than his (if his are straight) or if he bends his arms enough that your shorter arms can reach his head

OP your lack of instinct about this makes me thing you are some long-armed Chad TBH

even with 2 guys of same arm length, it's entirely possible for the guy to hyperextend his neck (look upward) to keep his eyes out of the path of attack

also if you pay attention to the Nicholson GIF you'll notice that even though his arms are bent, he actually moves his elbows toward the ground and uses his forearms to pin her own elbows out to the sides, which means she can't use the length of her aftarm (humerus) and only the length of her forearm (radius+ulna) to raise the hands from the floor
