In a war between Bolivia and Paraguay, German 120 officers were helping Bolivia while 80 Russian - Paraguay.
Bolivia had much bigger population and so bigger army than Paraguay but eventually lost the war.
"120 German officers had settled in Bolivia and were now serving in the national army, which had been remodeled along German lines and dressed in the uniform of the Reichswehr.
WW1 veteran officer Hans Kundt was appointed commander-in-chief, arrogantly asserting that he would easily deal with the Russians ( meaning the Paraguayan army )."
