As we all know, gen z is a generation of hyper-introverted terminally online homebodies who spend their free time scrolling through social media. This has given them an extremely distorted view of what's actually average.
A good example is male beauty standards. I've seen examples of what gen z women call ugly. Most of the guys they call ugly are actually average. And they also have this term "medium ugly" which is basically a 7/10(chadlite). Basically anyone who isn't a chad is ugly to them. I'm not even just talking about online. Most of my coworkers are gen z and I've heard them talk like this as well. It's not just women though, go to looksmax.org (which is mostly zoomers) and you'll see them doing the same thing. They'll call guys who are really good looking (some of whom are literal male models) mtns/htns. According to them, most guys are ugly, the 80th percentile are mtn, 95th percentile is htn, 99th percentile is chadlite, and there are maybe 5 actual Chads on the planet.
Another good example is height. I've heard so many zoomers (male and female...real life and online) say that 6'0 is "short". I know that 6'0 isn't tall anymore, but 6'0 is pretty close to average, maybe slightly below average for a white zoomer in the west. The only places where 6'0 would be actually short are the neatherlands and northern europe.
And yes, I know that gen z is a mogger generation. They're clearly better looking and taller due to better genetics due to hypergamy...but the increase in their average height and looks is not proportional to the increase in standards.
The same thing is true for income and there is hard data on this.
Gen z's standard for what is considered financially successful is literally 3 times higher than Millennial's. This explains why so many gen z women say a guy has to make 200k, 300k, 400k for her to consider marrying him. Lots of them say things like "if a man says he makes 6 figures, he literally only makes barely 100k" and I've heard zoomers say 60k-80k is "poor". You can thank all of the richfags (and people larping as richfags with rental properties/cars) flaunting their wealth (frauded or genuine) for this perception.
TL;DR: Zoomers are a generation full of extremely introverted homebodies who scroll through tik tok all day. Good looking successful people get more attention so the algorithm will favor videos from such people. So zoomers see a bunch of tall pretty boys and rich guys (or guys claiming to be rich) all day on tik tok and they end up with a heavily distorted view of reality. So "average" becomes short/ugly/poor.
