[Uber bans ‘drunk, drug-affected, unlicensed’ Sydney man after he takes the wheel of car
‘How did you let me do it? I’ve been drinking alcohol for four f****** days, I’m over the limit.’
Uber has banned a Sydney passenger after he unleashed a tirade against one of its drivers.
From criticising to controlling, the male passenger recorded the whole incident on his phone before sharing it on social media.
After taking a wrong turn, the passenger is heard ordering the driver out of the car before asking to take the wheel himself.
“Taken me all around Sydney, doesn’t know where the f*** he’s going,” he says.
“He’s never going to drive Uber again in his life, it’s his last trip.”
The passenger’s demeanour changes as he orders the driver to pull over while crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
“Pull over, I’m driving. Or else I’m going to cancel your Uber account, cancel your license,” he says.
“Trust me, come on.”
The driver, who appears exhausted, complies with the passenger’s demands.
“Brother, trust me. I am the Uber driver now,” the passenger says.
“Would you like a minty? Would you like a bottle of water?”
But within seconds of getting his way, he slams the driver for actually following through.
How did you let me do it? I’ve been drinking alcohol for four f****** days, I’m over the limit.”
Not only drunk, he also claims he’s unlicensed and drug-affected and turns up the abuse yet again.
“Are you f****** crazy?”
“He’ll be going to jail for the next 30 years.
Brooks says this type of intimidation, confusion and misbehaviour, “sadly leads to the loss of lives on our roads”.
“To see a driver on his phone while he’s driving trying to self promote himself on social media... is probably the greatest risk, not only to himself but also to that passenger and other road users,” Brooks said.
“It’s just dumb. You’re carrying on the car, other road users, pedestrians, cyclists all of those people at great risk.”
Brooks says NSW Police is urging the public to help with identifying those featured in the clip.
Uber Australia says it has now blocked the passenger from using the app.
A company spokesperson said it’s now up to the driver to make an official complaint with NSW Police.]
