In Florida sex offender registration is extremely brutal. It's for life and the places where you can't live almost make you homeless (assuming a landlord would even OK your application), finding non-povery work becomes impossible, severely limits any state/gov benefits, and makes you monitored like crazy (go to the police in person every 3 months to update, can't leave the state without telling the police, almost forget getting a tourist visa for anywhere, etc.)

You can go to prison, get out, and build up your life. But sex offender reg makes it impossible.

TLDR: Much rather go to prison for a few years than SOR.
