I honestly don’t know of that many people who disliked the game.
Yeah i feel like disliking the game got increasingly unpopular with time. But there definitely was a trend of shitting on it out of "purism" due to the gambit system, or Vaan being bland etc.
Damn i guess we have really different tastes, i think the open world is a big part of it's charm to me. But too much open world can suck too, thing is, in a good open world the player is typically able to regulate it himself. I mean by that, for example, when there's that long march from Rabanastre to that temple through the desert, i force myself to do it in one go for better challenge, immersion and progression, same with that long ass walk towards Archades. I feel like my schizo brain developped an "art of playing" to maximize enjoyment.

Tbh i only played XII and X
4,5,6,7,8,9, Are all amazing games. 13 depends, some like it, some dont. 15 imo feels like cinematic demo, it didnt nearly achieve its potential.

the feels due to the passage of time are brutal when you're an incel cause there's nothing to balance that melancholy.
Yeah it was made by the same team, Vagrant Story and FF Tactics on PS1 also.
Story, battle and character leveling is very interesting, its satisfying in late game breaking limits in making OP characters.
