It's the same logic that people employ when they "support the cause". They want to feel righteous, so they'll make some kind of token gesture, like a post (maybe even a viral post), so that they'd feel like they have done something. Asking them to actually contribute will immediately reveal that they don't want to help the cause, they just want to look like they are doing it. Virtue signaling at its purest.
