So my parents separated last year after my dad was seeing another woman while still living with us. They had problems for almost a decade, so I was happy it was finally happening. Then, a few weeks later, my mom offered my dad a place to stay at your new house due to him breaking up with his girlfriend. So far, it has kinda been annoying. My dad doesn’t seem to have any friends since the whole situation I mentioned above. My sister feels the same way as me. I honestly think he has no say in how I live my life considering the situation he’s in. That’s my main problem. Anyways, I’m making this thread to get your guys’ take on this

I'd say you're almost out and can do what you want, but in this economy you're probably gonna be living with your parents until you're 30. But a lot can change in 13 years?

But basically, as a minor and a dependent, you have no choice but to heed the instruction of at least one of your parents. If your dad is an asshole, you could try being closer to your mom, and clearing things with her. Like if your dad is all like "Tidy your room!" then you go talk to Mom, and if she says "Just give your father a wide berth, he'll be off you once he gets into his cups" then that's a way you could cope. But if your mom agrees with your dad that you should tidy your room, you don't have much option but to tidy your room.
