Well, not completely, because you are still thinking within the confines of your brain. In the physical world, you have to do things under the effects of gravity, with only the resources available to you, and you exist within a mostly unchangeable body. Fantasy has no such restrictions. There are seemingly endless possibilities. You can fantasize about being anything, doing anything, having anything, etc.

However, if you aren't that creative, you'll have a hard time coming up with truly captivating fantasies; they'll feel flat and repetitive. This is where escapist media has its value. Other, more talented people, create captivating worlds into which you can insert yourself.

Well if you're able to distance yourself from those restrictions though fantasy, then it stands to reason that you also have some control over what you choose to perceive. I don't think I'm the most creative person myself, but even something simple like fantasizing about being held never really gets old.

However I agree, spending most of my time immersed within escapist media is more fulfilling than anything I'd otherwise be doing by far. Reading history can produce a similar result as well.

If it weren't for escapist media, a lot of people, not even just restricted to incels or borderline incel normies, would commit suicide, for sure. Modern day life is just really humdrum and mundane, there's practically zero excitement in anything anymore and it feels like a lot ot things which may have been captivating experiences for people a couple decades ago have now been zapped out of life.

Escapist media just offers exhilarating worlds where people seem to actually experience meaningful things. A lot of characters from fantasy novels or just novels in general often materialize as actual genuine people in my mind more than some people I see on a day to day basis. I guess it's also the interiority of thought that a medium like books allows, where a narrator can choose to be omniscient, all dependent of course on authorial intent as point of view is a crucial narrative element.
