Already covered extensively so will be brief.

Nathan Daniel Larson (@Leucosticte), a father, former husband, congressional candidate, ex-convict, and banned .is member, was arrested in December 2020 after allegedly flying from his home in Virginia to kidnap a 12-year-old Californian girl.

Larson was indicted on five federal charges related to this incident. If convicted on all counts, he would face a maximum of three life sentences plus fifty years.

Recent developments

In July, Larson was transferred from the Fresno County Jail to MDC Los Angeles, a federal BOP facility, for a court-ordered mental examination. That examination is scheduled to be completed by September 11th, and Larson will be returned to the Fresno County Jail thereafter.

The examination is being conducted by psychologists Lisa Matthews and Samantha Shelton of the BOP.

The next hearing has been delayed by two weeks to September 17th (thread will be updated then). Judge Dale A. Drozd is assigned to the case.

He's federally fucked now. He's clearly not all there mentally but there's no way 2 psychobabble foids are going to sign off on it.

I guarantee he's going to spend at least the next three decades in prison or an institution. I mean, his quality of life in either scenario won't be great. There's a good chance he won't ever get out. Even if he does, he'll probably be on lifetime supervised release, which means he can't even watch porn without asking his probation officer for permission. It's incredibly over.

The shrinks get their paycheck from the feds, of course.

If Larson instead flew to Thailand and had sex with a child prostitute there, he could face federal charges when he returned to the U.S. under the PROTECT Act, specifically 18 U.S.C. §2423 (b) and/or (c). Such prosecutions are not uncommon.

The U.K. and Canada have similar provisions.

With respect to U.S. law on child sex tourism, the extraterritorial provisions apply even if the conduct is legal in the country where the offense occurred.
