Yes I am thinking about it. But Taiwan is extremely expensive If I could find a way to minimize a cost to live there for 1-2 years to learn the language it would be good.

But if I just go there on tourist visa it will bring many problems, and the language courses are expensive. I can probably get a 6 months course scholarship but even that only covers like half the costs. And 6 months is not enough to learn the language.

To be honest, learning mandarin now doesn't exclude me from going to Philippines so I think its the best of both worlds. I will leave both choices open and decided later on, I wanna learn mandarin anyway.

Though I am kind of worried, what the fuck am I going to do when I run out of money? Do I just go back home and then what... I use "comprehensible input" to learn spanish. its been just shy of a year and i can understand perfectly good people on youtube talking in natural spanish. obviously for mandarin, youre looking at a multiple of that time to get to the same point. but i feel like its really the #1 way to learn a language.

we make plans, but where we end up is going to be not what we planned. its important to make the plans though because you need something to get momentum going. once the ball is rolling just keep going with the punches and eventually youll hit where you need to be at the end.
