Most people can't afford any kids or can only afford one kid. It's either 1: be rich or 2: be poor. That's the only way to have a family in modern USA.
Good luck trying to get your dream house with a white picket fence, housing prices are out of control. You will be lucky to find a nice apartment for bellow 2 thousand.
Health care is going to destroy your wallet. Pregnancies alone can cost thousands of dollars just for giving birth, I've seen cases where it's cost 10 grand. And that's not even counting the extra shit. And if you ever get sick you are fucked, it's impossible to live off one wage while paying thousands in medical fees.
Student loans will probably be fucking you from day one too.
And even after all this trouble, you also have a 50% chance of divorce.

I think the divorce rate statistic is too low for young couples, since it would include old people who married decades ago during a more conservative time, right? So for young people, it's probably like 80%.
