I’ve been hooked on esports games since LoL came out of beta. After I got tired of LoL I started playing Apex, and then tried a bit of Valorant. I used think I had an addiction when I would play LoL for 10 hours a day, but now I’m realizing that they are great copes that help fulfill the empty needs in my life.

I get to feel superior to others any time I win. I used to make a ton of smurf accounts for this reason and ride the high of winning 80% of my matches.

Ranking up gives me a sense of accomplishment and self esteem. Even if the ranks reset every season and it’s fake progression, it’s enough to fool my brain into thinking I made progress in some area of my life and releasing dopamine.

Being on a team with other players makes me feel less lonely. Sure, I’m low inhib and don’t even use voice chat, but the mere presence of teammates fills some social void of mine.

Your post reminds me so much of how I felt when I was in the depths of my league addiction. I was on a medical leave from college, so I was playing up to 20 games a day trying to get diamond. If I lost elo that day I would literally cry myself to sleep.
I had around 10 perma’d accounts too and used to hard flame/run it down.

But nowadays I can’t take the games that seriously anymore even if I tried. Some part of me kind of misses the passion I used to have for the game. And maybe you hate how tilted you feel right now but in a few years you might look back at it as a sign of life within you that you will no longer have.
