You can't start with your salary, you need to restrict yourself to your disposable income, ie. what's left after you've paid for necessities, necessities being what you absolutely need to maintain your income (housing, eating, most likely clothing and cleaning, probably some transport). After that it really depends on your income. If you make a million a day, you can spend 10k for an overnight escort every night. If you get minimum wage, you most likely have zero disposable income.
As an engineer doing 2-3 times the median national salary (of every western country I've lived in), for me it it's not really worth it.
