I always thought it was a weird saying. Being a free agent in sports means you are not tied down by a contract and you're free to seek other opportunities if you desire. So being a free agent is a GOOD THING because it gives you more freedom, yet rehab tells you NOT to be a free agent, which is odd. Unless there is something that im not understanding

The full quote is "Don't be a free agent in life, let the blackpill guide you". What he really meant by that was probably closer to "don't wander aimlessly in life, let the blackpill guide you" as "don't be a free agent" would typically be interpreted as something like "don't think for yourself" in the context it was used.

In case it wasn't obvious from his accent, English is not Rehab Room's first language. Naturally, ESLcels end up saying phrases that, while grammatically correct, either don't hit the ear right or have implications they weren't aware of.

But "don't be a free agent" became a meme so he just ran with it.
