Yes. I don't know if I am just paranoid but I have noticed this many times. For instance when I started playing guitar my dad thought it was a good idea to compare to a mentally challenged person who also played the instrument as a means to discourage me maybe.
Many try to belittle me for my appearance: small frame and baby face with shy demeanor. I'm working to change it though.

I think it is because you lack validation. You are not inherently a failure.
You can build confidence without validation. When I was younger (high school years), I didn't do shit with my life but as a social outcast I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. You can use that time to get good at skills that maybe no one will appreciate, but at least they make you feel confident and capable.

My dad does it Everytime so I always call him dumb loser and wallet IDC
