I have a chill boss that is a gamer, and he wants me to get into it. Does anyone play it? What do you think?

I played Starcraft 1 a lot with my dad when I was younger. I can't say anything about 2, I haven't played it much.

It's a good RTS, especially considering it's age.

The learning curve isn't too steep at least at the start, but if you're going to play online, you'll need to have a basic understanding of hotkeys, build orders, unit matchups &c.

I only play euro truck simulator (two)

Play Warcraft, now.

Used to play Starcraft as a kid.

I hope Zergs will arrive on this planet.

starcraft 2 is free so try it, multiplayer skillcap is very high, get ready to smash keyboard with insane apm to reach decent rating.

When I was a teen I bought the original game to play with my cousin. Was surprised it had such a following considering how old the game was.

Starcraft 1 is a masterpiece. The visuals, the music, the story, the gameplay, it's has good as any game as ever got. I weep for youngcels who never experienced gaming in the 90s, when it was at it's peak.

Starcraft 2 was decline in many ways. Poor story and atrocious writing make the single player campaign almost unplayable to me, even though the maps are actually fun and relatively well made. Some other changes they made are also pretty poor (the sounds of the Zerg are FAR inferior to the original, which i found baffling since the only sound the Zerg make is growls and grunts, not sure how they could possibly screw that up, by they did).

Aside for that, it's essentially the same game with some few alterations, at least gameplay wise, which i guess is what matters for multiplayer. It also has VASTLY superior AI, which makes playing against the computer actually fun, where as it was a bore in the original since it was too easy to beat the computer.

Beware, multiplayer is brutally difficult. People have been playing this thing for two decades and Starcraft has a huge e-sport scene, especially in countries full of autistic people like Korea. You can still have fun with it, but don't expect to get far on the internet.

BTW, here's what i mean. Starcraft 2:

Can something possibly be more generic than this?

Meanwhile the original:

Yeah it's based on cinematic cliches but at least those cliches were executed well. Older devs were just higher IQ it seems.

My IQ is too low to play that crap

Age of Empires 2 mogs Starcraft 1

C & C Red Alert 2 also mogs Starcraft 1

tbh
I prefer C&C and AoE to Starcraft but it's a good game nonetheless.

Brazilian Smegma, what is your favorite civ in AOE?

Also, Allies or Soviets or Yuri in C&C?
Romans for AoE1
Byzantines for AoE2
Germans for AoE3
Atlantis for AoM

I go Yuri in Red Alert 2 just because of mind control

Red Alert 1 and 3 I go USSR

Yes, cataphracts are quite good. Byzantines are overall a solid civilization, no glaring weakness.

I like the samurai with the Japs.

Played Starcraft 1 and 2 last year.
