Well, I thought Japan was part of the West. Even, if culturally they are different than WE or US/Canada. They adopted Westernisation during the Meiji Era and most of all since WWII. But, you might be right, it's a First World country not Western, depending on how and what you define as the West.

I'm planning on leaving the city and being outside society as much as possible. That will probably be in the US just for practical purposes, though I'd be open to doing it elsewhere. "The west" is just about everywhere these days, if you mean "the west" as population centers in industrialized nations. Some are richer, some are poorer, but roughly the same bullshit whether it's LA, Mumbai, Beijing, Istanbul, or Berlin.
