It's annoying tbh. Like... they just can't stop. I thought maybe after the real hiding that they got during the Jodie era... maybe they've reigned in the wokeness at least a bit.

But NOPE, lol

And it feels so shoehorned in too. Random forced not even stories but sections of stories that you could easily cut out and they're hopelessly woke. As if they came up with a fairly good idea for an episode (for example 73 Yards, Dot and Bubble or The Devil's Chord) and then just... shoved woke themes in there as an afterthought in a fairly obnoxious way.

Really, really weird. And it's disappointing because it's predictable and tedious and just when you think you've escaped it... it comes back.

Oh well. The first two of those episodes I actually thought were pretty good other than that.

Anyway OK, rant over. lol

It's state funded propaganda. No surprise there.

I've never heard of anyone actually watching the show, not sure why they keep making more episodes. I guess it is the longest running show on the BBC, but it sucks so bad.

I think there was an episode where the alien was correcting the doctor on gender pronouns JFL

I like the more standalone, high concept episodes.

Blink, The Girl In The Fireplace, that kind of thing.

And it's also kind of nice that often it's quite wholesome like the Christmas specials and you know that it isn't going to become unpleasant to watch like many adult shows can.

So it has a lot going for it. But they just can't capitalise on all that anymore I guess because it's not really their priority anymore - their priority is to be woke.

Hm. I'm watching a 2011 episode now and I feel like the level of "wokeness" is what I thought would be in the 2024 ones.

I thought it peaked in about 2021 I guess and they were reigning it in now. I'm not sure if that's true. Maybe a bit. But the modern ones are still a lot more overt with their politically correct themes than the 2011 ones were.

I put woke in quotes because back then we didn't even call it that. I guess we'd have called it PC.

just like The Simpsons, Doctor Who is corporations not letting go milking the cash cow dry.

I think Doctor Who comfortably lends itself to basically going on forever if they want because a) there's always a new idea you can explore and b) it's largely for kids and young people, and there's always a new generation.

But... they need to focus on telling good stories and making good entertainment, and not on constantly pushing politically correct messages.

Hm. These 2011 episodes still feel PC >.<

Pushing all the woke values but just less aggressively.

I do think that beyond a certain point... a) it bothers people more and b) it actively gets in the way of good storytelling.

Also I need to stop making a b c lists XD
