The 3 are linked but not necessarily, for example someone might decide to abstain from sex in order to be praised.

Another counter argument to this theory is that there are many behaviours we observe in adults that already exist in children which do not have the desire to mate. These behaviours, therefore, cannot be attributed to the desire to mate.

Having sex is just sub-section of the « physical pleasure » category.
