I had a science book when I was a kid that said that that was how it works. It had a picture of aliens jumping out of the hole eating an astronaut.

Doubt it but it is possible.
There is a theory that the singularity in black holes lead to black holes in some other part of the universe (aka white holes), but there isnt any proof for this theory.
I would like to think this theory is true because matter doesn't seem to be compressible past a certain point. The Pauli exclusion principle makes the singularity of a black hole impossible so maybe all black holes create white holes in some other un-observable part of the universe? I am not trained in physics so I can't really speak on this matter in confidence, but perhaps this theory may usher in a whole new era of physics.

Possibly since time bends there, maybe to the point where we can enter other worlds with a powerful time elastic spacecraft. Maybe in 2k years we will have liquid spacecraft or some shit and we could enter it. Maybe it's an exit from the matrix for superior beings.
