This 56K modem and the legendary sound it made, the laptop/desktop PC, the iMac (first generation), the slow browsing with always the fear you'll get disconnected while on Napster, Kazaa or Limewire. ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger and MSN Messenger with schoolmates. Netscape Explorer and Communicator. E-mail v.1 . The early dating websites. The flashy web pages that would take one minute if not more to load? I really have a lot of nostalgia for this time :cryfeels:.

Back then it was much easier to connect with others and have meaningful friendships. Now it’s about who ghosts who first.

True. Were you a teenager at that time?

Too young to remember late 90s but I do remember 00s. The internet was a better place back then tbh..

Wasn't even born to be honest i only get access to internet when i was 10 ngl

If there was a time-machine I want to get back to 1997-1999.

What about gopher protocol? I'm too young, never witnessed it.

Too young for the 90's, I indeed enjoyed the Internet of the 00's, Newgrounds ftw.

I miss those days back when life made sense and the internet was so simple and innocent before the world turned to shit.
sigh I want to be a kid again..

Never used it. It was a very marginal project, as almost anyone used WWW.

I was there when it was released, remember well. As well, as little less known Mac OS 9.

Good times. Everything used to be so simple including MSN god I miss MSN and old social media with the myspace layout although I never used Myspace we used Arto in Denmark but it was the same old school layout where you could customize your profile and stuff.

I was born around that time. First time I accessed the internet was around 2006 and I was mostly only playing games meant for kids back then. It's fucking over

coolmathgames.com tbh

It was completely different. Unreal when you think about it.
They'll shit new liberticide laws to fuck people over.

Back when usenet was actually usable and films didn't get DMCA'd after an hour, good times tbh

Newgrounds were the shit back in the day

The internet back then was crap. I don't miss it, to be honest. We can cope more with fast internet connection.

I was already an incel in the 90s

I got my first computer in 2012, so i didn't.

Were women as hypergamous as today on dating websites in that time?

you kicked my dog, peanut butter jelly time, dancing rabbits, those were the days

No, I was a kid

Internet needs destroyed tbh

Of course! I discovered internet in 2002. My parents had 56k. Before i got my own pc i played Homm2, elasto mania and liero on my parents win98 PC. I would cut off my left hand to be able to return to those days.

over for zoomercels who missed a unique and wonderful point in time only to be dealt the present and then the actual nightmare that will without a doubt be the future

Just reading that gave me strong nostalgia

Even though technologically and size-wise it was a fraction of what it is today, the internet felt much more exciting and new and interactive. You could really make a connection. The internet got instagrammed and now it's the idiot box.

yes man it was good because there were less females

no man but i wish

I miss it dearly, MSN Messenger and chat rooms were the goat. Even video games were much higher quality and not just made for casual normies for $$$.
It was truly over after ~2008 for me.

High-end phones, social medias like facebook & tinder certainly contributed to the incel problem becoming as big as it is today. Hypergamy exploded..
People used to communicate with each other, now why should they bother when Chad is one click away on their phone?

IRC chats and esoteric forums in the early 2000s were the best. I was looking back at one of those ancient usenet sites back when the internet was first born, and holy shit, every reply to the forum thread was so articulate and well-written, like an entire academic essay. You'd be hard pressed to find that kind of quality on the internet nowadays, the days before normie cancer forever tainted the Internet.

internet was much better place before 2007

Downloading a 5mb porn clip in about 40 minutes from cumfiesta.com :feelzez:

Normies ruin everything.

Oh god same. The joy of discovering the web in those days. Downloading Metallica and System of a Down off of Napster...
