I don't play anymore. But in elementary school I had played the recorder and in High School, I was a trombonist, though, not a very good one.

No, and considering tha most kids who decide to start playing an instrument on their own get the idea from their friends, I doubt that many of us do.

I once had a cheap violin which I never used.

I put the case on top of the wardrobe where it gathered dust for a long time.

Then one night I was woken up by the sounds of violin strings snapping and that was the only tune I ever played, if it can be called that.
