I refuse hugs from my mom because hugs seem like too much of an intimate act, if extended family hug me I don't want to cause drama so I just go with it.

I am. I just have a mind virus where I see hugs as a sexual act, similar to kissing. Probably due to females in high school selectively keeping hugs from me.
I always signal to them that I don't want to hug them by stretching my arm towards them. However, they usually hug me which makes me very uncomfortable.
