Discussion Do you feel like modern MS Windows is working against you?

This is how I feel about it and why I switched back to Linux.

Modern Windows always seems to be doing something which is against my interests, whether it's pushing me to sign in online, forcing me to update or upgrade, forcing applications or adverts onto my PC that I don't want, watching what I'm doing in some way or another, etc.

It's like a constant battle just to get it to behave, which is very different to older versions like 7 or even 8.1.

Yes and it's working at all times against my interest, while win10 is already bad in that regard with forced updates/upgrades, scanning and making your pc running slower, telemetry, installing apps that you don't want or need (like screenlogger and keylogger from Recall app) win11 is much much worse it doesn't even have control panel anymore and performance is just dogshit in games and real applications. I guess i will have to move to linux or install arch win11.

I use windows 10 LTSC. No bloatware plus you can disable telemetry via gpedit.

I guess sometimes I just get so put off of something I want to get as far away as possible!

I'm not sure if I'd consider even using a reasonable Windows release at this point because I've been so put off the whole thing!

It's interesting though. But what happens when support ends?

If windows 10 gets unusuable because games require 11 or end of life, I will switch to Ubuntu and do the whole dual boot thing. Basically windows only for gaming, Ubuntu for everything else.

Yeah true, i only use windows for gaming and work but aside from that it's nothing else.

Windows is trash, yes. You have forced accounts and sign in crap, default encryption on new installs. The worse is the forced ads in the start menu to generate profit. I don't give a shit about AI recall crap, no one asked for it. I have two scrips that are supposed to run at start up, one is a program and the other is time sync, time sync sometimes works and program launch does not because apparently it does not like powershell scripts as startup items. I only use it for work.
