The good will? (or similar concept)

For example recently I misread the estimate for the cost of works from the electrician and also left a subscription to a company running which racked up to £175!

So I asked both for kind of "good will refunds", or partial refunds.

The electrician said no, but oh well, he did a good job so it's not the end of the world ^_^

The company refunded me £105 of the money, and £35 of it is the current month so that's not so bad there. It sounds pricey I know but it's a legal advice service.

Anywho, I find that it's always worth a try if you feel like you've been overcharged or anything like that.

They might say yes or at least partially, which is appreciated too and better than nothing of course! :)

No but ive only worked in customer service so I've given literal gorillions

I mean, in both cases I mentioned it was my fault I think. I mean it MIGHT not have been... for example if the estimate was unclear or the company's website was unclear.

But even if it was unambiguously my fault, I think if something even just "feels" a bit harsh many businesses would rather be lenient in order to keep that good will, good reputation, trustpilot score, all that stuff.

Instead of a fleeting victory but then long-term they might lose out if their reputation starts getting harmed by it.
