The technology needed to actually go to the Moon even for a robot probe would need to be super advanced. You would need a ship that was utilizing electro-magnetic fields that are in outer space to navigate and propulsion.
Then you would have to deal with the problems of taking the Sun's rays head on without Earth's protections and without being able to move heat around easily because heat can't transfer in a vacuum. Then if you go around a side on a ship, if you go into shade it is absolute zero temperature.
So your space ship would possibly need to be like inside a gigantic rock like an asteroid. You can't use any form of propulsion basically like we do on Earth, because you don't have anything to push against in a vacuum.
