I wish reincarnation were real, but this is holding me back.Fabio said:No, it doesn't make sense since amount of living being increases.
I think the people that believe in reincarnation usually don't just believe reincarnate as humans, you might even reincarnate as cockraoches, or some fucked up thing on other planets or dimensions or some shit.Fabio said:No, it doesn't make sense since amount of living being increases.
According to hinduism your reincarnation depends on your good deeds and karma in previous life. Which includes dovotion to god.mental_out said:I'm in the middle, I don't really believe in it but I'd like it to because I deserve a reroll tbh.

The concept of reincarnation comes from a school of thought where multiple realms exists(many that are not visible to the human eye)Fabio said:No, it doesn't make sense since amount of living being increases.
Interesting, I've never thought of it this way tbhCaesercel said:According to hinduism your reincarnation depends on your good deeds and karma in previous life. Which includes dovotion to god.
Human life is precious and is only achieved when you have reincarnated as every species on this planet. Including maggots, rats and cockroaches. Even your birth as a human depends on that. Incel tier birth signifies bad karma while chad birth signifies good karma in previous life.
Human birth gives you a chance to consciously accumulate good karma so you can take better birth or one up and escape the cycle itself.
So yeah. You could be reborn as a Chad. Or a cockroach

In that regard it is substrate-dependent and why I don't think machines, no matter how advanced and intelligent, can become conscious. Humans may happen to be an instantiation of high level consciousness. We can already define lesser creatures, like dogs and cats, to possess some lower level (quantity?) of consciousness. Such an idea isn't so alien or bizarre.
Assuming this is true, we should (in theory) be able to measure this force either directly, or indirectly through its effects. And if is the case that consciousness is a fundamental force, then it means that it is something that necessarily exists and persists beyond the biological. If it is observed only in biological entities, it might be impossible to observe it "out there" in the universe, which is why we may only be able to observe and measure its effects. The question now would be, "what kinds of things would and does consciousness affect that we can measure and quantize"?

How Much Does Your Soul Weigh?
1907, April: Duncan MacDougall’s Attempts to Weigh the Soul. In April 1907, the New York Times published a short but sensational article: they claimed a doctor named Duncan MacDougall of Haverhill, Massachusetts, had succeeded in weighing a human soul as it left a dying person! MacDougall had...www.4biddenknowledge.com
Indeed, it is very flawed. However, it hasn't been retested that i know of... Such a simple concept could have been easily tested several times with modern measuring tools.based_meme said:That experiment is, unfortunately, plagued with problems, from inaccurate scales to low sample size. Also, I don't think anyone has been able to reproduce the results.
Besides, the soul is supposed to be non-physical. Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to look for physical properties (like mass) of a non-physical object.

Emba said:Anyway, the i didn't mention reincarnation because even though there is "proof" - via Tibetan lama studies, I am not so sure because of NUMBERS OF PEOPLE ALIVE NOW out number the dead by far.
based_meme said:No. Please give me the brief.
I'm not sure if that's strictly true. Last estimate I remember reading was that the human population is at around 100 billion total. That's a huge number of dead souls lingering somewhere in some space-time dimension.

Without going into much detail,
We are living in a huge conscious energy field that is highly malleable. Basically, everything happens in this field. It's so vastly huge that it's inconceivable to our tiny minds.
There are various laws of this field that have been observed via the human mind. The book also mentions loopholes to those laws.
Ways to "make static" a dynamic thing.
It's available as an audio book too.based_meme said:Alright, I'll explore the book.

Try to ignore the pompous posturing of the (unknown) author. I can understand his desire to brag, but the information probably predates the Egyptian pyramids.
So same with abrahamic religions, you're a good boy and you go to heaven (reborn as rich chad in Hinduism) or you're a naughty boy and you go to hell (reborn as a turk in Hinduism)Caesercel said:According to hinduism your reincarnation depends on your good deeds and karma in previous life. It was written when christains were actually ruining the lives of non christains. Sort of like leftist doxxing today except with witches...based_meme said:The author is unknown? What?

Not quite. But whatever. It's not "magic" magic is something outside the realm of normality.. That is basically just a book that describes reality. On a type of macro-micro level. If dude knew about plasma physics or "electric universe theory" he might have used that terminology instead.based_meme said:I just read what the book is about.
I'm not interested in Hermetic mysticism and magic. All of these philosophies and related practices promise enlightenment and even apotheosis in some fashion. It's all fake news that slowly erodes and corrupts the soul, or - if I got the lingo right - erodes the field energy of the spirit.
I am not a hindu dindu so no.mental_out said:I'm in the middle, I don't really believe in it but I'd like it to because I deserve a reroll tbh.
