In general, do you agree with this statement?

In order for a person to begin change, they often must first hit rock bottom.

Personally, I do but just wanted to hear some other thoughts on the subject.

I have hit rock bottom dozens ot times. Never did i change

A person changes when the cost of not doing so outweighs the benefits/comfort. For some people, with respect to some issues, that tipping point occurs exactly at rock bottom. In other words, they are so resistant to change that literally everything has to turn against them before they take action. However, I don't think that this is the case very often. I personally have never needed to hit rock bottom before I made a change in my life; however, that could just be due to my generally risk-averse personality, and also my conception of "rock bottom" may be more harsh than yours.

Yes I agree ive been their honestly

Yes because only PROPER change occurs when a person becomes too aware of all the qualities in the world to which they decide the ones that benefit them the most.

Change for a persona that hasn’t resulted from a rock bottom state usually would mean that they still would end up changing due to them not realising more than they do, causing them to not know what they truly want to be or what they want.

Rock bottom to me is being in the complete void for so many years

No, because some of you have hit rock bottom but you're still choosing to rot.

Rock bottom in what sort of way?

One can feel mentally down but still have other important things intact. At that point all that person needs to do is appreciate what is at hand that other people dont have.

More or less. I prefer to describe it as: "People only change when the discomfort of not changing becomes bigger than the discomfort of changing."

It's all relative, there is no "rock bottom", it can always be worse (or better)
