I really don’t get why hierarchies are such a big deal everywhere. At work, school, or even with friends, there's always this need to figure out who's "above" and who's "below." It just makes people act like they're better when they're on top and worse when they're at the bottom.

I never was the teacher's pet and have had social anxiety since I was around three years old. It evolved into Selective Mutism when I started second grade at a new school. From second to six grade . I was completely mute at school, nobody ever heard my voice. Needless to say school was very unpleasant for me and I endured a lot of bullying, whether it was kids taking food off my tray at lunch and throwing rubbish or balls at me at recess or my fifth grade teacher humiliating me whenever she could. I was bullied by the students and the teachers, though my fifth grade teacher was by far the worst and I have a lot of hatred for that horrible Foid to this day.
During this long period of being treated less than human by both children and adults, somewhere along the way I began to believe it . I can remember every horrible event in vivid detail. "Can't speak cause he is a freak" often repeats in my head randomly, a permanent gift from the kids at school. By far the worst memories are all the times I had to watch my parents walk away on Parents Lunch Day. As long as they were with me, everyone was on their best behavior ( that Foid sucked up to my parents ) . I would watch them leave with tears in my eyes, unable to speak thanks to Selective Mutism.
