It seems like Elliot, despite complaining and crying about not getting intimacy or getting laid, didn't even try to talk or bond with a girl, according to his own manifesto and ER's friend's testimonies. Some examples below

I've bolded in the important parts where he THINKS that it will play out that way, but he never actually did TRY to talk to them, he wasn't open to the idea that the situation might have ended up differently if he gave himself a chance. In his own head, he was already rejected without it happening. Yes, I know that Elliot was beaten up at a party, but that was a result of HIM attempting to push girls off a 10 foot ledge, which resulted in the obnoxious Chads beating him up, and then subsequently crying in his own room in agony.
