I am not a curry (I am 1/2 Jap 1/2 French) but yes I live in India and I know it quite well.
It is very simple. Hinduism is the last remnant of ancient paganism. 2000 years ago, the whole world was like that.
For a pagan, the border between gods and men is not absolute. Some men can become gods (Dionyos, Hercules, in ancient Greece, Krishna and Rama in India). Therefore, a White Stacy can indeed be a goddess. In India, the caste system makes it even more clear. There is an infinite number of caste levels between worms and the top gods. If you behave well, you move up. If you don't, you move down. One of the things you can do to accumulate merit in order to move up is to go to a temple and look at the idol of a god (it is called "getting a darshan"). What the curries in you video are doing is that they are getting a darshan of the white stacy so that maybe they can become some kind of gods in their next life.
For modern curries, this kind of belief is not necessarily strictly there anymore, but the mindset remains.
As far as taking selfies with gods, this has also become a thing in India. I see that all the time around temples here.
