Warhammer tabletop board game lures people into buying lots and lots of expensive: Models, Scenery, Paint, Glue, Flock (Grass). Yes that's right; the consumer would have to assmeble and paint this stuff themself. All so the consumer can field a 2000 point army worth of army. (A 2000 point army was the standard army size.)

They lured people in by showing that the 2000 point armies had all the cool stuff, like Dragons for fantasy and Tanks for sci-fi.

Guess how much this all costed.

To go from having nothing in 40K to having the required books, a 2,000pt army (standard size), with some hobby supplies, is $815.

On average new out of the box? Probably $400-$600 depending on the army.

The worst part; The plastic they use to make this stuff, it's not even recyclable.

Only whitedwarf magazines and the army books were worth getting.

The fact that GW expects people do to all that shit and spend all that money just to play pretend war is fucking insane. From a zoomers perspective, wargaming is a really alien concept. The lore is pretty cool though

Total war warhammer games generally have like 20 dlcs :lul:

That kind of marketing method is basically DRM in real life. Get some agnostic ruleset and play with literal toys instead.
