I'd argue converters tend to get more out of it than people who were raised with it. People born into a religion tend to just role with it while converts tend to use it more in their life/it means more to them. I think they tend to do better/feel stronger about it because you need an actual interest in that religion to convert in the first place. I mean real converts though not people who read a Wikipedia article and then claim to be that religion.
