It has a liberating aspect to it. You realize you don't owe anybody shit, and it helps you not feel bad about caring for yourself first and being selfish, especially if you're a nice guy/friendly helpful person overall. You were kind to this world and they refused it, none of it is your fault, it was their choice to treat you like that. You have a moral right to tell everybody to fuck off and never ever serve anybody's but your own interests again.
Yeah, I feel like that about it too. I'm free to do whatever I want in my free time, and nobody controls me. That is a good thing at least. And not blaming ourselves is key. I used to be that nice and caring guy. People that see me now would think I was always callous and reserved, but that isn't the case. They destroyed that good nature I had. So I'm totally justified by not going out of my way to do stuff unless it helps me.
