CANADA — A man who threatened officers with a weapon was shot by Waterloo police in Kitchener, Ontario, according to video and Canadian news outlets.

Reports say Waterloo regional police were called to the area of Strasburg Road and Ottawa Street just before 7pm Wednesday for a man in distress.

Police say that when officers arrived, the man drove his vehicle into a police cruiser,

The man then got out of his car and allegedly threatened an officer with a weapon — who shot the man in response.

The man was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.
