I miss the old days of youtube, back when most youtubers only made videos about things they actually cared about and wanted to give information about it, show you how to do something, or give their opinion about it.
But these days its:
>clickbait title
>impact font in thumbnail with large arrow pointing to something, or an exaggerated facial expression
>"HEY GUYS WELCOME TO MY CHANNEL"

>jumpcuts every 5 seconds
>stock footage
>flashy looking effects that add no actual value to the video
>youtuber is clearly faking a personality
>"Now for this video's sponsor..."
>unfunny rehearsed jokes (usually self-deprecating humor)
>that fucking "ironic" zoom-in (this one is especially annoying)
This is all because youtubers are trying to optimize watch-time. Zoomers are the target demographic for most content, and they have short attention spans and get bored extremely easily, so you need to do all this bullshit to keep their attention. It's so bad that a lot of tiktok videos and youtube shorts will have two videos playing at once, usually one with talking and the other that's just pure brainrot.
And a lot of the time it's really obvious that whoever is making the video doesn't even give a fuck about the topic, sometimes they'll get basic information wrong so they couldn't even bother to do proper research. Very rarely is a video truly a "labor of love" anymore.
