Why are ricemen so concerned about family honor? Like Japanese soldiers would rope rather than be captured in WW2 because capture would be a disgrace to their family honor.

Or when Asian students rope because they have bad grades and their family honor is insulted.Is this cultural?

Im not asian but i Will take a guess that the «honor» thing is because They are afraid of getting excluded from their family

That doesn't happen, they rope because its stressful dealing with their education systems along with family beratement and they are told from youth that having low grades=life over. Its not about trashing a last name.
