Ever since they get rid of perpetual licensing in favor of the cloud/monthly subscriptions, I have vowed to never pay for another piece of software again.
I would rather own my program forever and keep its current version, than pay for overpriced useless updates and features.

It would cost the company 10x the AAA game price(or even way more) in court fees alone (dont forget time) to put up a case against you. Its not worth it.

Pirating is only an issue for those who distribute pirated copies/Re-sell them.
If you're a 16 year old Jimmy who can't afford Death stranding so you pirate it. Nobody cares.

They raise the price high because big companies make hundreds of thousands off of it.
What they forget is that there are students or hobbyists.
We aren't their target audience. Which is fine with me, because I still end up getting them
