I think in reality the West Euros aren't going to fight for Eastern Europe (EE). And there is a very low chance the US will fight for EE.
But to defend the West Euros conscriptions plans they are going to need big armies ready to defend West Europe to deter Russia from going for West Europe too, which I don't think Russia would anyway. But for national defense the West Euros have to prepare anyway.
In the Middle East its looking like the USA is going to withdraw and just operate through proxies.
In West Europe traditionaly the army had great influence. Its a sort of military tradition with an example of the former Prussian territory having a joke saying the army has a state not the state has an army, thats how deep military culture goes. Not to mention the royal navy controling the seas etc
Now the military are pushing for more funding because obviously they looking out for themselves and the EU states have been slacking and cutting spending so the military push the propoganda that big bad Putin will attack West Europe so give us more money. I think this in part explains a bit about the conscription thingy. I mean seriously speaking Russia could never stand against the combined military industrial production of UK, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Italy, like how? Russia would be eaten alive and only nukes would help and France , UK have those as well.

I called this two years ago. Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine and Ukraine suffered massive losses to the point where they started recruiting retirement age males and 16 year-olds, it became clear that conscription was going to be the end result when the conflict escalates.

Something a lot of people forget is that the army is the state. If I march into some country with an army of 100,000 men and there is no opposing army.. then I am now the ruler of the country. I make the laws, I can change the organizations, I can appoint whoever I want to the top positions.
Every time a government gets near to overthrow with mass demonstrations, rioting they call in the army to help them. But the army generals realize they have all the power in that situation and they cut out the middleman politicians and the army generals are the new leaders.
It wouldn't surprise me if as ww3 goes on and as the economic problems in the West get worse, that at some point the army takes over.

Thats my view too the Davos/WEF billionaire rulers/democracy lost their right to rule by fucking so badly on most measures.
And now they have a real problem with China, Russia and Iran making equivalent weaponry for 1/10th the cost or less that we pay, and in addition our countries because of corruption and profiteering only being able to field small armies at huge cost.
