We found some evidence of a parent–offspring conflict over mate choice, but only in the case of daughters, who evaluated physical attractiveness as more important than parents.

However, we found a different pattern in the case of daughters. In particular, parents seemed to avoid the potential sons-in-law who are both well-off and physically attractive. Young women generally preferred the physically attractive profile but also valued income of the potential mate.

Basically they proved that even when you have a social norm in which parents get to choose mates for their daughters, it still does not help much as women will still go for the most attractive potential partners and not for their parents choice (which is for the most part a better choice on the premise of much better material wealth, stability and security).

In other words if you let women free they will chase down Chad and Chad only even if he is homeless and will completely shit on the rational choices of their parents to marry a better off male who is not as attractive.
