In 2006, Peng Yu encountered Xu Shoulan, and elderly woman, after she had fallen and broke her femur. Being the good samaritan he was Peng helped out Xu and carried her over to a local hospital and paid around 200CNY in treatment

When Xu finds out that she needs femur surgery, she accuses Peng and said that he pushed her, and thus needed to pay for the surgery

The case went all the way to the district court and an eyewitness said that she had fallen on her own, but that wasn't enough to sway the court and despite the lack of evidence they held Peng liable reasoning that “no one would in good conscience help someone unless they felt guilty”

Of course this case got widespread attention in China and Peng mysteriously did a 180* on his stance and said that he did in fact push Xu and agreed to pay out 10000 CNY in medical fees in 2008 (Totally his own decision )
