Why would a decent at least nominally mexican catholic foid in the 1800s want to be involved with an outlaw who, even if you agreed with his politics, was openly nonmonogamous and had no intention of supporting them and their offspring through legitimate labor such as animal husbandry, blacksmithing, medicine, carpentry, mining, or other source of honest income? I am sure that they probably knew some inceltier jose from school who worked his ass off reliably and went to church without fail, but they would rather get syphilis from an outlaw who probably didnt even know their parents' names? This was supposed to be the era of the little house on the prairie tradwife!
