If you want to do a phd for example you need intelligence, but also need good planning skills, social skills, presentation skills, ability to explain things, stress regulation, creativity and pragmatism. Some high IQ people only brag as a compensation because they lack skills in general. Being a "gifted child" is not a good indication of how far someone will get in life, but excessive praise for it will teach them a wrong outlook
