Wanted to get a PC but prices are high atm.

What screen size monitor is the best for xbox at 1440p?

depends on the room. but 40-50inch is good.

if you're buying a series s don't get a 1440p display at all lmao
vast majority of big games run below that resolution
get a cheap 24 inch 720p (normally a 768p panel advertised as 720p) TV. It provides a ppi of ~70, which makes it about as sharp as a 65 inch 4K TV.

on AAA next gen games
series x - appropriate for ~1800p @ 30 fps or ~1080p-1440p @ 60 fps
series s - appropriate for ~1080p @ 30 fps or ~720p @ 60 fps

For Series S a 1080p 120hz monitor would be best and for the Series X a 4K 60Hz one in my opinion. 4K 120Hz would be preferable, but those monitors are pretty damn expensive. Never understood why people play consoles on monitors. I mainly play console, PS5 & Series X, but I play on my TV. I'd just get a PC for gaming on a monitor.

4K really does look better when you put it next to 1080p. Many games support native 4K resolution on the Series X.
the only games running at 120 fps on the series s are at 720p and sub-720p resolutions, they'd look absolutely disgusting on a 1080p TV. With that being said, I'm pretty sure there are no 720p 120hz TVs. So either way those modes are a waste and I see no reason to use them

a 1080p display is appropriate if you're fine with 30 fps, but if you want to take advantage of 60 fps performance modes you should 100% get a 24 inch 768p TV as these modes usually render at sub-1080p resolutions (check the digital foundry and vgtech videos). There is no reason not to unless you need a big meme TV for some reason. It's perfectly usable. The average TV in the past was around the 20 inch range, but now it seems like everything below 65 inches is "small" jfl

720p on a TV that size will look sharp and makes sure that you don't have to look at terrible upscaled visuals

I got Series X
